Description

By early September 2018, Mars had substantially reverted to its pre dust storm state, although some evidence remained. The colour returned to the more usual rusty red.

I reprocessed data from the 9th & 10th which gives a nice comparison of two different aspects of the planet. The left hand image from the 9th is dominated again by Sinus Gomer and Mare Cimmerium to the south and Elysium Mons to the north. The right hand image from the 10th is dominated by Olympus Mons and the Terra Cirenum albedo area to its south. The large expanse of Amazonis Planitia is to the volcano's west (right) in the image. The three shield volcanoes of the Tharsis Montes are on the eastern limb at left.

Note the further shrinkage of the south polar cap compared to earlier in the apparition.
